French Transformers Fan Club Part 3: Become a Hero of the Club

Becoming a hero by joining the Club and helping Optimus Prime in his battle against the evil Megatron. This time we take a better look at the registration form for joining the club.

The first thing that stands out is the colorful comic panels. A very interesting and unique art style is used for this flyer. The artist who made these three panels is the French artist named COVILLAULT. He is known for his penciled movie posters in the 70’s and 80’s. Goldorak au Cinema is one of his other works.

Looking at the art style, the toys were taken as a reference, instead of the cartoon. What’s also striking is that the artist depicts Optimus Prime without his famous mouth plate in the second panel. That has been done in other media too. But it always looks weird.

Back to the form, the left bottom part. So when you sign up, what could you expect? Well, a lot!

  • Coded membership card
  • Message decoder
  • Secret language grid
  • Badge
  • Stickers
  • Transfer (Not sure what that would be)
  • Poster
  • Mini Transformers B.D.

The membership is 60 F (French Francs) for a 12-month subscription, which is €9,15 or $9,89 without inflation correction. I find that not very cheap, especially around the 80s. Even though you got some goodies and discounts on some club offerings. Speaking about goodies and discounts, that’s something for future parts.

Wouldn’t it be awesome to find some or all of these items that you would receive when signing up? Well, I found them! A good friend of mine saw my post and shared some awesome items. You will be in for a treat in the next chapter!

Thanks for reading! Until the next,
