French Transformers Fan Club Part 5: Even more Goodies

This is the second part of the French Club Goodies from my good friend Ard.

We looked at the front side of the introduction sheet. Let’s take a better look at the backside and focus on the left part. So what would you receive more with this membership?

* A Superb poster
One of many it says. Unfortunately, this poster was not included, not sure what it would have looked like.

* Secret Language Grid
A different special sheet with a coded alphabet. This is included, it’s the red and blue sheet with Blaster on it. Every letter has a different code for a secret language only members would know.

* Decoder (strip)
Similar to the ones that came with the Transformers boxes.

* Mini Booklet
The Hasbro Bradley comic catalog as we’ve also seen before.

* Information about the cartoon broadcast
In France, the Transformers cartoon was broadcast on Canal+ (without a set-top box apparently). The cartoon series was part of the show Cabou-Cadin. A French children’s program broadcast started in 1984. Some of the other cartoons that were part of this program were COPS, Captain N, and Super Mario Bros. to name a few.

* Minitel
Minitel was a French videotext service. An interactive information- and communication service that used the telephone line for its connection. Because of the Minitel, the French were already in the eighties able to do online shopping, banking, and chatting.
To get started on the Minitel type COMTLE and then go to the different sections.
- Messaging service
- Catalogue and history
- Club shops
- The Transformers Club
The password is OPTIMUS, do not tell anyone ;)

* The seasonal greetings letter
The letter that was included among everything else was a special Club message/announcement. The Dinobot offer:
1988 will be the year of The Transformers the letter tells. Time wise this letter was probably sent around the holiday season of 1987 and was not part of the membership introduction. BONNE ANNEE! Is the French word for happy new year! Also, this letter was written by Optimus himself.

Very cool find by my friend Ard, and I am thankful he shared it with me. We now know so much more about the elusive French Club.

Next time the last pamphlet that I own about the Club's special offers.

Till all are one,
Kees
